Below lists the rules and guidelines for the FishingForums.ca.
Without rules chaos invariably follows, which is why we take them very seriously, and expect every member to adhere to them!
FishingForums.ca is a place where people come together to get advice on Fishing, stay informed on Fishing Products, and seek help on Fishing techniques ETC.. It is NOT the classifieds. Members with commercial, interests such as Fishing Services are certainly welcome to participate and contribute to the discussions, but must do so without plugging their own services. Specifically, as a member you agree to the following with regards to no advertising:
1) You may not promote or plug your site/services in any form when posting or responding. This includes but is not limited to posting your site's link, soliciting members to try out your services, or critique your products against a competitor's.
2) You may not initiate a thread that in any way attempts to redirect traffic to your site or services. Often times such threads are disguised as "seeking advise on what you think of my company/particular product offering." or of the likes. Nice try, but a wolf in sheep's clothing is still a wolf.
3) You may not initiate threads of glowing or bashful reviews of a particular commercial fishing operation unless you are prepared to back up your claims. Sometimes a commercial fishing operation may attempt to sign in as a different member to manipulate public opinion on either their services, or their competitors'. We will find you out (and make sure all members on this forum do too)!
4) Bottom line, do NOT plug or promote your site/services in any shape or form when posting. The above rules apply to PM (private messaging) posting as well. Anyone caught in such indiscretion will be permanently banned. Hard Sales Pitching will NOT be tolerated.
Signature Rules: ------------------- FishingForums.ca does allow members to attach a signature to the end of their posts. HOWEVER as all information in the user profile and can be accessed by the pretty little icons in their posts DO NOT ABUSE THIS FEATURE! If you want people to contact you then place it in your profile! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Posting Rules: ---------------- 1] Post Bumping - You may NOT bump (reply to) your own thread with no reason other than to bring it to the top of the listings. If your post was not answered then think about what your topic subject has it in. Change the topic to be more meaningful. The more informative your topic post is the faster someone will help you!
2] Idiot Topics - These include topics such as "Pls hlp me!", "HELP!!!!", "HELP ME!", "Problem!", I can't", "Error on page", "Question", "Couple of Questions", "Simple Questions...I hope", "A Few Questions", "Issues", "A Couple of Issues", "Some Issues", "A Few Issues", "I can't find this", "What is this?", "Can't Install This" and the list goes on and on and on.
Also included in the "I'm Too Dense to Think" topics are adding "!!!!!!!!!!!", "????????" and/or "!?!?!?!?!?!" to Topics. I am not sure where this idea come from but around here we have a quick ceremony that lasts 1/1000000 of a second and then the post is sent to Bit Heaven.
If your intelligence can not come up with something that is informative, meaningful and searchable to the issue or issues which you request help from in your message post's body content then don't waste the time of the helpful people on these forums! The moderators and volunteers of the FishingForums.ca web site will not waste their time on you and will purge your post.
3] Site Promotion - No advertising or self promotion of ANY kind allowed (except in the "Powered by Forum").
4] Harassment - This will NOT be tolerated. YOU WILL BE BANNED!
5] Always exercise common courtesy and respect for your fellow members when posting. In other words, treat others as you would like to be treated. Rude, demeaning, or insulting comments have no place here, neither do members posting them.
Replying Rules: ------------------ 1] Yelling - All topic posts that are in UPPERCASE will be purged unless there is good reason for it. ie: It is part of the actual error
The above rules will be strictly enforced and may be changed at any time. For intentional violations there is no warning notice and you will be banned. For other members they may only receive 1 warning, with a second violation resulting in being permanent banned from the FishingForums.ca web site.
